Port Huron Northern High School choirs is a community of students and teachers committed to creating music as a group every day. As a choir member, each student is part of a continuing legacy of choral excellence and high-level music making. Students are also highly engaged members of the community around them, dedicated to bringing music into the larger Port Huron area for all community members to enjoy.
Students are encouraged to stop by the choir room to ask Ms. Senecal any questions they may have about how to join the program!
Nashville Trip Update
Hello all –
Thank you so much to all of the parents and students who came to the parent meeting last night, it was so nice to meet some of you and catch up with others!
For those families that could not attend last night, I wanted to send out all of the Nashville trip information. There is a lot to look through, but it is every piece of information I have! When looking at the pages for pricing, the numbers across the top show what the price would be if that many people came on the trip (50, 60, 40, etc.) The price goes up when there are over 50 people due to the need for a second bus (each bus holds about 50-55 people). The sooner that people sign up for the trip, the sooner we can finalize the price point as many of the variables that remain are contingent on reservation fees and we need numbers in order to confirm. The powerpoint that we showed last night is also available on google classroom.
We are planning on fundraising for the trip as a program and I have a few ideas in the works. All funds that come from fundraising as a group must be applied to the trip by February 20 so things will start happening quickly! We are going to continue our annual sale of cookie dough and gourmet popcorn in the winter. I have contacted our sales rep to ensure that we will get our fundraising returns by the deadline so stay tuned for the exact dates. I looked into making and selling stadium blankets that are waterproof on one side and are fleece with Northern’s logo in the corner on the other side. They roll into a carrying case are are perfect for all sports outside in the cold. It would be ideal to have these ready for football playoffs! I just have to pick dates with the company and then we could get started. I would appreciate a parent volunteer to help me with coordinating this fundraiser as our concert is fast approaching! We will also run a bowling fundraiser before the holidays (probably early November). These have been very successful in the past when combined with a silent auction (made of donated items) and a 50/50 raffle. I need another parent who would be willing to help coordinate the auction and raffle but I am happy to run point when it comes to facility rental and working with the owners. Finally, I would like to run a few nights at local restaurants where portions of the proceeds from the evening are donated to the sponsoring group. These cost nothing and are a easy fundraiser combined with a group night out! Any parents willing to help me coordinate with restaurants would be greatly appreciated. Some restaurants that have done night like these in the past include Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee’s, Bob Evan’s, and Olive Garden. If there are any other ideas for fundraisers, I am happy to hear them! I try to avoid any fundraisers run by the band program since so many of our families overlap.
Any students who have money in their choir accounts from previous years are welcome to apply those balances to the trip. If you are curious about your student’s account balance, please reach out over email and I will let you know what it is. As soon as that student is registered and the down payment has been paid, I will transfer the desired amount from their account to the tour company. That way future invoices will take that money into account.
If you have any questions regarding the trip, please feel free to contact me via email. That is the best way to get hold of me, I usually respond within a business day. I tend to miss messages on the phone or on my Skyward homepage.
Hope to see you at Crosstown Showdown!
Ms. Erika Senecal
School starts back up on Tuesday, September 3! I can't wait to see you all soon! Make sure you are signed up for the correct choir based on last year's auditions. If you are new to the choir program, WELCOME! I am so glad we are here. Come see me (Ms. Senecal) in the choir room (602) if you have any question about joining choir, otherwise speak to you counselors and they will add choir to your schedule.
I am still in the process of fully updating the website for the school year. Keep checking back for more information and updates. In the meantime, hit those back to school sales and enjoy your last days of summer!
