ERIKA SENECALErika Senecal has dedicated her life thus far to bringing music opportunities to students of all ages. Throughout her college career, she had created a goal of providing people of all ages with quality music education. Ms. Senecal was an early childhood teacher at Michigan State University's Community Music School in East Lansing. She taught multiple classes of children ranging in ages from birth (0 months) to seven years old. She was also the music ministry intern at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish/ St. John Church and Student Center in East Lansing. As an intern Ms. Senecal was a section leader, rehearsal assistant, and ensemble manager.
Ms. Senecal has a passion for community service and engaged citizenship. Most recently, she has participated in Burcham Sings. This program brings undergraduate conductors into the Burcham Hills Retirement Community in East Lansing to conduct a choir of residents. Ms. Senecal had been a conductor in this program for two semesters. Ms. Senecal's hard work has been recognized and celebrated since her high school career. Recently she was awarded the Emil G. & Doris E. Ellis Endowed Family Scholarship in Music Education for the 2017-2018 school year. Ms. Senecal graduated with honors from the College of Music as well as an Honors Diploma from the Honors College at Michigan State University in December of 2017. In the fall of 2019 she began her presenting career at professional conferences in the choral field. She jointly presented a session about transitioning from being a student in the college classroom to a teacher in the high school classroom with Sarah Price at the Fall ACDA-Michigan Conference (American Choral Director Association). Ms. Senecal student taught at Saline High School in Saline, Michigan under Sarah Price. She currently serves as State Solo & Ensemble Scheduler for the Michigan School Vocal Music Association. The 2022 - 2023 school year marks her sixth year with the choirs at PHN. |
