DescriptionMixed Choir is for students in grades 9-12 of all voice types. All students are welcome, regardless of ability or previous experience. There is no audition required for membership. This choir is focused on singing a variety of repertoire and learning basic to intermediate music theory and history. Students perform in at least 4 concerts a year (2 per semester) as well as various small performances throughout the blue water area. Students will gain confidence in their singing voice, their ability to perform in groups and alone, and their ability to read music and understand what is being presented. Students will have the opportunity to arrange music with small groups as well. Students will learn the basics of singing posture, technique, tone quality, intonation, breath management, and expression. Students will work with beginning to intermediate literature, sight reading, theory, and history. Students will be introduced to peer leadership and the importance and strength that comes from relying on and helping others.
